Bad week on WW

So this has been a really bad week for me on weight watchers.    I didn't have a weigh in last week because I go on Thursday nights - and well Thursday night was Thanksgiving, so I have to go tonight, but Im so not looking forward to it.

I was actually really good the week before Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving - to the tune of a 1.5lb weight loss on Friday morning (according to my scale, which I get on daily).

Then came Black Friday.   I was pretty good in the morning - after shopping at Rice's Flea Market with my sister and parents, my parents took us out to breakfast.   I ordered an omelet that was full of veggies, and I had it made with eggbeaters.   When I asked for fruit to replace the potatoes, I was told they couldn't do it, but I left some of the potatoes on the plate.  That is a big success for me.   Then I came home, and I started snacking on leftovers, and then I started snacking on leftover desserts and before I knew it I had eaten a handful of cookies, 2-3 brownies, some candy corn bark - and I was barely in the afternoon.   I figured, no problem, I did really good on Thanksgiving, so one day isn't so bad.

Then came Saturday - I started the day off good, counting my points with a 4 point oatmeal and then a 5 point nut bar before heading out for a walk, and then I went for a 4+ mile walk with the dogs.   Success!   Then I came home and guess what I did.   Dug into the leftovers - dinner and dessert again - and again heavy on the dessert.  FAIL!

Then came Sunday - I started off the day not so bad.   I had a banana and a couple pieces of cornbread that I didn't know the points for, but I figured it couldn't be too bad.  Then we ran to go visit hubby's mom-mom and stopped home for lunch before heading out to our cousins soccer game.   Guess what I had for lunch - thanksgiving leftovers, 2 rounds of it!   I stayed away from the dessert for the most part, but then Hubby brought a bag of cookies with him and I ended up eating two and a half of his cookies.   Not too bad.   Then we came home and I ate a bunch of caramels as I made the Caramel Apple Cider cookies, and then i ate a couple cookies.   Then I went to my parents for Sunday dinner and indulged in dinner and desserts - FAIL!

Monday came, and I decided to be good, I packed a healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks.   I went back to journaling my food/points.   I had 15 points left when I got home - SUCCESS!   But I worked until 7:30pm, so when I got home, I was in a crap mood and went right for a cookie.   I made a decent dinner, but then indulged in the cookies again.  FAIL!

Tuesday came - and again, I packed a healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks.   I didn't journal, but I did good.   Then someone pissed me off at 6pm, so i grabbed a bag of chips (you know the big bag that serves like 6...) and before I knew it, the bag was gone.   I was at work til 8pm, so i figured Id just be good when I got home - and I was.   Until I got hungry and started snacking on more chips.  I ate a lot and then I had another cookie before bed.   FAIL!

Wednesday came - and after two long days at work, I knew it was going to be another long day - especially since I was in an all day meeting where we got to order a yummy, unhealthy lunch.   The soup of the day from the place we ordered from was Shrimp and Crab Bisque - MMMM.   So I ordered that, as well as a quesadilla because I knew the soup wouldn't be enough.   I could see the layer of oil in the soup - yet I still ate the entire thing.   I also ate the entire quesadilla.   Got home and ate some candy corn and some leftover spinach gratin.   Lunch = FAIL!

And here we are...Thursday...forced myself into a good day, but that won't make up for such a bad week when I saw the addition of 1/2 pound each morning I got on the scale.   Weigh in is gonna be a total FAIL.   But I must go - because I need the weigh in and the meeting to try and push my butt back into gear.

I really need to a) get rid of the leftovers b) get out and exercise (notice there wasn't any exercise, with the exception of Saturday) and c) get back to journaling.   Must lose the weight that I put back on this week and continue to work towards my ultimate goal of 20 lbs - which will put me at the lowest weight of my adult/young adult life.

Any advise from fellow dieters out there?

Weight Watchers turned me away

So yesterday I briefly mentioned how I got turned away by weight watchers.   To be fair, that phrase sounds worse than the actual situation - but it was just really funny.

To start off, as I talked about in that post, I had a really bad week on weight watchers last week, and although I was gonna try to skip WW this week, my coworker was starting this week, and we were gonna push each other, and I was gonna go to the meeting we were gonna try to go to weekly.    So at lunch time, we left not for lunch but for weight watchers.   I get there, and I wanted to turn around right away because the meeting location looked like a shithole - but then again, I work in a pretty po-dunk town.

To back track a bit, I have a fast pass.   The fast pass is kinda like a monthly train pass that you pay for monthly and get to whenever you want, how often you want.   Its cheaper than paying each week, and its easier.  It automatically renews every month, and I have a printout showing I paid, and if you look at my weight tracker, every week they put a sticker on, which shows my height, weight, goal weight, how much I lostthat week, total lost, FP # and FP expiration date (the last two are important to this story).

So, back to Wednesday, I stand in this line of about 6 people and wait forever, eventually getting to be next, so I hand over my weight tracker, which included inside has my fast pass.  The lady starts asking for my fast pass, I say what I gave her is what Ive been given.   She says I should have received a card, I said I never did, but Ive never had problems.   So then she starts telling me about how their system is down and it isn't a problem when the system is down, but she can't check anything.   I said that the information is there, I went last week and had no issues.   Again, she says that their system is down, blah blah blah.    Then she says she can't accept this and count this week unless i have my fast pass, as she needs to write down my fast pass number (which remember is in my weight tracker!).   Finally after the constant going back and forth, I just said fine, i won't weigh in - Ill just take it as a sign that I shouldn't weigh in this week.

So then my co-worker goes up to register, and the lady says there is a deal starting next week where registration fee will be waived.   My co-worker thinks about it and says no, she is here now and she just wants to do it.   You'd think that would be enough - right?  Nope, she keeps going on, trying to convince my co-worker to leave and sign up next week - almost even tearing to pieces the registration form.    After she realized my co-worker is wanting to sign up, no matter the costs, she then offers the 10 week plan where you pay a little less a week - but you pay it all up front - and guess what the special is with that plan?   No registration fee.

Clearly this lady was trying to turn us both away from weight watchers...

Somewhat off topic - but not...

Do I go to weight watchers tonight after a really bad week that I know I gained like 3 pounds and I already ate my days worth of points for the day (damn snacking when working from home!)?   Or do I skip it, and try to make up for it next week, even though I will be traveling 3 days - which means I have 3 full days worth of meals out - and will have to weigh in on Wednesday - which means its a 5-day week?

Who let the dogs out? Who Who Who Who

I have a co-worker who at least once a day has a song stuck in his head and yells over the cubicle wall to another coworker the name of the song - therefore getting it stuck in her head and anyone within ear shot (about 6 of us).   He mentioned this song at 3pm today, and its stuck in my head- and now yours...

Now that that's done, on to my post that has NOTHING to do with the title...

I apologize for my absence from my blog.   As I predicted a month ago, I let the busy time of year (professionally) get the best of my personal time.

I have traveled 2 out of the last 3 weekends on business (plus another weekday business trip in there) and I'm coming up on weekend number 3 this weekend, and then weekend number 4 in two weeks.   This of course adds up to about 4 days to myself (for cleaning, laundry, errands, relaxation, long walks with the dogs, sanity, etc) in a 2 month span of time.   That little personal time makes for a not fun time.

The good thing is, I'm actually handling balancing it all pretty well considering the complete imbalance.  The bad news is, it came to a big crash this past weekend.   Just like most people, when I'm eating well, I'm doing well on all fronts - I exercise well, I'm more organized therefore getting more done around the house, I'm more productive at work, etc, etc, etc.    After a string of working 17 out of 19 days (and going on 30 out of 33) and having tweaked my back muscles towards the end of those 19 days - I was started to "fall apart".

I went to weight watchers two weeks in a row having lost a pound each week - of which I didn't expect to either week - and I decided I deserved a night off to reward myself.   I didn't go completely crazy, but I wasn't counting points.

I started the next day off well, and then I ordered a sandwich for lunch in Chicago and it was GINORMOUS and I ate the entire thing.   I figured I could make it up - if I wasn't hungry - at dinner, I would just skip it and go to bed.   But then my coworker got me all hyped about going out to dinner.   In the end we were both exhausted, so I ordered room service.
Good News - I ordered soup for my meal.
Bad News Part A: The soup definitely had a lot of cream in it, so not healthy.
Bad News Part B: They delivered the soup with 3 yummy challah-type rolls - and I devoured two of them.
Bad News Part C: The dessert sounded really good to me, so I ordered it...and ate it all even though I was stuffed after the first bite.

Okay one and a half bad days - I can come back from this...

Then on Saturday, I started breakfast with a bagel at 9am after being up for 5 and a half hours already.   Not completely bad, but thats not a good use of my points.    Then the news came...our flight had been cancelled - and it set me down the wrong path.   Come lunch time I started good - I had a hotel boxed lunch, which was a veggie sandwich with mozzerella on a bagel.   I ate all the veggies, some of the cheese and a little bit of the bagel.   But then the cheesecake that came with it was calling my name and the 19g of fat was outweighed by the flight being cancelled - so I ate it...

Then my boss said that if we were all stuck in Chicago, he was gonna take us out for a nice dinner.  Do you know how hard it is not to splurge when you don't pay the bill?   Trust me - its hard!   Its even harder when it isn't even your company credit card isn't associated with it in any way whatsoever...

My boss ordered 3 apps for us to share - which wasn't that bad - then told us to order a soup or salad with our entree, and they had a lobster bisque soup on the menu.   It was so rich and yummy!!!   Then came out my seafood risotto - which was not on the menu and the chef made just for me.   Well that was delicious and although I was again stuffed after the first bite, I didn't want to hurt the chef's feelings - so I ate as much as I could...

I eventually got back on track on Monday and Tuesday, but then I fell off on Wednesday when I got turned away from weight watchers (look for future post...) and got back to the office and had a small piece of a cake a co-worker made...and then another small piece...and then another - and by the time I got home I only had 2 points left for dinner and it was too dark out to take the dogs for a walk.   So I said "F" it, and I sat on the sofa and snacked and snacked and snacked...

And hear I am today, another day started off right, and turned bad at lunch.   Not as bad as yesterday though.  I took the dogs for a walk when I got home, but now I have to figure out a LOW point dinner I can eat - like 2 points :(   I think Im just gonna eat a normal dinner and start back on plan tomorrow.   But it will be hard because I will be back in Chicago for 3 days, 2 nights, and have plans for dinner on both those nights...I just need to be enticed by the healthier options...

Do you all think I should go to weight watchers tomorrow night and see that I gained back like 3 pounds in one week?   Or should I skip it and try to make up some of it next week?

Here is to eating healthy, exercise, getting back to a good personal/professional balance and getting back to blogging this coming week!   Hope you all have a good balance and are keeping a healthy lifestyle!
